Harris County Constable Precinct 1

HCCO1 In-Service Classroom Rules

(Please review rules and view available courses by scrolling down)
  • Class Attendance: No absences will be permitted for mandatory training, unless excused by the Training Coordinator or Captain of the deputy’s Division.
  • Tardiness or leaving early will not be tolerated. Personnel late, will not be allowed to attend training.  Personnel leaving early will not be given credit/attendance for the training.
  • Weapons: Peace officers shall carry their weapons according to department policy. No civilian (LTC) will be allowed to carry a weapon in classroom.
  • Dress: Dress will be for a professional environment. Department uniform or appropriate civilian attire will be worn. No shorts, flip flops, sandals, t-shirts or tank tops will be worn.
  • Academics: All Examinations are property of the department. No grades are published. The instructor of the course will advise each class of the grading criteria (written/ practical) for each particular class. All grades are pass/fail.
  • Conduct: Professional demeanor is expected. Disruptive, rude or disrespectful conduct will not be tolerated.
  • Electronic Devices: Cell phones will be turned off or put on silent. Cell phone calls will be made or received on class breaks only except for emergency. Laptops will be allowed for course related material only, not for personal use. Personnel found engaged on their personal electronic devices, will be ejected from training.
  • Reading material (unless incorporated into the class) is prohibited while class is in session.
  • Profanity: Students shall not use profane, vulgar or obscene language in the classroom.
  • Orderliness: Students will be responsible for maintaining a neat and orderly classroom.
  • Complaints: All complaints and concerns will be addressed accordingly, beginning with the instructor of the class, training division Sergeant, and then Training coordinator.
  • Illness: Illness or injury to any student during class will be reported to the instructor immediately.
VIOLATION OF ANY OF THESE RULES MAY CAUSE FOR DISMISSAL FROM THE CLASS. THE INSTRUCTOR OR TRAINING DIVISION PERSONNEL SHALL MAKE THE DETERMINATION OF DISMISSAL FROM CLASS.

HCCO Pct. 1 – Annual Firearms Training/Qualifications 2026

PLEASE READ ENTIRE POSTING:

This class is for Harris County Constable Precinct One Personnel Only!

The following are the dates available for Handgun, Shotgun and Rifle qualifications for each month in 2026. Deputies are required to register for one of the qualification dates that correspond with their birth month by emailing cn1training@cn1.hctx.net. Please advise in your email what caliber weapon you will qualify with and if you will be qualifying with a Rifle and/or Shotgun. Dates will be updated quarterly.

You MUST register for only one of the listed dates and you must schedule this class on the same date as your annual Taser Re-certification date.

Please note; each course of fire can be found on the second page of the Firearms Qualification Card as listed in the Firearms Policy found in the Integrity website.

Prior to arriving at the range, you also must sign into the Integrity Website (CLICK HERE) to enter your Handgun Qualification Record and/or Long Gun Qualification Record. Paper forms will no longer be utilized or accepted.

Park your vehicle in the parking lot and walk to Range. Do not drive to the range.

  • *You must safely unload your weapon before entering the range.*
  • Uniformed officers shall wear their duty belt for qualification with their primary handgun.
  • Deputies will be provided with qualification ammunition for their primary weapon, shotgun and rifle only. Deputies should bring at least 50 rounds of factory ammunition for each additional weapon they intend to qualify with if the additional weapons are not of the same platform as their primary duty weapon.
  • You will only have to qualify with multiple weapons if the weapons are different platforms. For further clarification see Department Policy 602 – Firearms Qualification, IV. (F), Examples 1 & 2.
  • Personnel will be required to show an ability to break-down their weapons prior to being able to qualify.
  • ATTENTION: Please remember to bring your own hearing, eye protection and holster!
  • Shotgun Qualification: 00-Buckshot and 1-ounce Slug ammunition shall be the only rounds authorized. Shotguns must be equipped with a sling.
  • Patrol Rifle Qualification: Must have ‘Request for Authorization to Carry a Patrol Rifle on Duty (Click to download form)‘ form on file, as well as having completed an approved (24 hour) rifle course to qualify. Patrol rifles must be chambered for .223 Remington / 5.56x45mm NATO caliber. Patrol rifles must be equipped with a sling.

HCCO1 Department Report of Training Form

Attention HCCO1 Certified Personnel:

When submitting certificates you would like reported to TCOLE you MUST complete the Department Report of Outside Training Form. This form is for use when attempting to get TCOLE credit for a course that was not sponsored/reported for credit by a TCOLE training provider.

Before submitting this form to the Training Division, it is your responsibility to confirm that the hosting agency is not submitting the hours to TCOLE, to ensure double reporting does not occur.

HCCO1 Procedures for Course Registration

If cancellation of a class is needed, you must provide cancellation forty-eight (48) hours prior to the start of the course with a valid reason for cancellation.

TCOLE COURSE #2040 – Handcuffing Techniques and Defensive Tactics (8hrs)

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this course is to expose officers to techniques which are tactically and legally sound in regards to handcuffing and defensive tactics.

The course is hands-on and physical exertion will be completed through kicking, kneeing, and punching bags.  This will help personnel maintain officer safety while encountering individuals and to safely effect a lawful arrest.

Class size limited to twenty (20) students.

Must be commissioned with a law enforcement agency.

TCOLE Course #2053 – Basic Baton Certification (8hrs)

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this course is to provide officer with information about the operational use of batons. It provides efficient defensive tactics for law enforcement personnel, portation (carrying) and presentation (drawing) procedures as well as striking techniques. The course incorporates drills which simulate the stress of street encounters.

Officers will have a basic understanding of the conditions in which the baton may be used and justification for use.

The course is hands-on and physical exertion will be completed through kicking, kneeing, striking and punching bags.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to provide the basic operational theory and practical training to reasonably, safely, and effectively operate the TASER Energy Weapon.

This is the basic certification course to carry a TASER 7.

This is not the recertification course.

TCOLE# 3311 ALERRT Level I

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This dynamic course of instruction is designed to prepare the first responder to isolate, distract, and neutralize an active shooter. This course will cover shooting and moving, threshold evaluation, concepts and principles of team movement, setting up for and room entry techniques, approach and breaching the crisis site, Incident Command, secondary responder tactics, improvised explosive devices, and post engagement priorities of work. The course will culminate with dynamic force‑on‑force scenarios.

TCOLE# 3844 Peer Support

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to teach officers not just how to survive, but how to
live. Students will learn overall officer survival, survival stress, coping with
shootings, dealing with department stress, family stress survival, defusings and
debriefings. Applicable for Military and LE alike for high risk CD operations.
