The Special Response Group (SRG) consists of a small core group of twenty Precinct One deputies that can be mobilized with short notice. The SRG is involved with all protests, demonstrations, rallies, and mass gatherings in and around the downtown courthouse complex. The SRG is equipped to handle almost any type of situation involving marches and protests. The goal of the Precinct One Constable’s SRG is to be prepared for any type of demonstration and influence a peaceful ending to the protest.
To become a member of the Precinct One Constable’s Office SRG, you must go through a forty-hour SRG school. The forty-hour school familiarizes deputies with formations used to contain and disburse large crowds. The school also familiarizes the deputies with different chemical munitions, non-lethal weapons and teaches the officer the basics for disaster preparedness.
