The Harris County Precinct One Constable’s Office Citizens Police Academy is a 12-week course designed to help citizens of Precinct One better understand what a police officer encounters while on-duty and the functions and services our office provides. Students attend class every Tuesday night from 7-10 pm and are exposed to several components of law enforcement and our Office including (but not limited to):
- Criminology and Police Science
- Administration
- Mental Health
- Juvenile and Internet Crimes Against Children
- Criminal Warrants and Vice
- Dispatch and Support Services
- Patrol
- Tactical “Shoot / Don’t Shoot” Scenarios
- Professional Standards
- Community Outreach and Media Relations
- Environmental Crimes
- Downtown Building Security
- Civil Process
- Tour of Institute of Forensic Science
We are pleased to announce the return of the Citizens Police Academy to Precinct One after being shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic!
CPA Session VI will be held from Tuesday, 20 September through Tuesday, 29 November 2022 each Tuesday for 12 consecutive weeks, except the week of Thanksgiving.
Registration is open from Monday, Friday, 9 September 2022 and there are 15 positions for this Session.
Completed Citizens Police Academy applications can be submitted either in person or by mail to:

Applications submitted in person will be notarized free of charge. Applications submitted by mail MUST be notarized prior to mailing. Application deadline for Session IV is Friday, 22 July 2022.
